What medical doctors think about acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine of which acupuncture is an integral part, is a complex system of observation and treatment based on traditional concepts that have evolved over thousands of yeas. Its main culture assumptions are: the Yin(negative) and Yang (positive) relativism, the twelve meridians of Chi (energy pathways), and the Five Elements.

Emphasizing whole-body treatment and functional interrelationship, Chinese medicine as well as acupuncture, has its strength in:

    1. The diagnosis and treatment of diseases manifest only through systems such as inegularities’of function without demonstrable change in organs or tissue.
    2. The treatment of viral illness, especially cold and flu for which western medicine has yet to develop an effective treatment, and
    3. The early diagnosis and prevention of organic diseases which is considered an advanced stage of diseases, before it can cause physical damage to the organ or function.
